HIPPEAS // Giving (chick)Peas a Chance

Hippeas are delicious, USDA organic chickpea puff snacks
Chickpeas also known as Garbanzo beans, happen to be an excellent vegan and gluten free source of protein and fiber. They're packed with vitamin K, folate, phosphorus, zinc, copper, manganese, choline, selenium and exceptional levels of iron, vitamin B-6, and magnesium. In some parts of the world even the chickpea leaves are cooked and eaten. They have a significantly higher mineral content than other cooked greens like cabbage and spinach. This powerful plant provides important dietary nutrients around the world especially those in malnourished populations. While the list of health-benefits go on and on for us, mother earth loves these little peas too. Chickpea plants naturally release nitrogen back into the earths soil as they grow. So they’re good for the planet, simply by being themselves.
Chickpeas are a great source of vegan protein, Hippeas are perfect for after a work out!
Hippeas is an organic chick pea puff company based in sunny Santa Monica, California.  It was founded by Livio Bisterzo in 2016. With Livio's years of experience working in the natural food space and his passion for living a healthy lifestyle, he created Green Park Brands. His goal was to produce healthy options for consumers that also had a positive social impact in the world. Hippeas was his first star product and with high profile investors like Leonardo DiCaprio,  it has quickly become one of the fastest growing natural snack brands in the world. They are on a global mission to bring the world peas!

The founder of Hippeas, Livio Bisterzo at the Santa Monica Office
This delicious crispy snack was made for the modern hippy, the people who care about mind, body and the soil. Hippeas are USDA organic, certified gluten free, nut free, soy free, vegan, non-gmo, kosher and baked never fried. They currently carry 5 flavors, Far out Fajita, Sriracha Sunshine, Vegan White Cheddar, Pepper Power, and Bohemian Barbecue. I am head over heels for the Vegan White Cheddar, its far out weighs any and ALL other cheese puffs I've had in my lifetime. The Pepper Power had me drooling too. Honestly they were all good in their own ways, exploding flavors, the perfect crunch, and texture unlike anything I've had before.

Doing good is at the heart and roots of Hippeas. Thats why a portion of their profits goes to Farm Africa to support chickpea farmers in developing nations, helping them grow their way out of poverty. They've also embarked on a 5 year project to invest in and develop a fully sustainable supply chain in Ethiopia. Livio says Hippeas will buy land and invest in technology for local farmers. They will create a fair-trade co-op that will become their main supply of chickpeas and close the cycle. Livio is so proud of the journey ahead, and I can't wait to see where he goes next!

You can find these incredible crunchy snacks at Starbucks, WholeFoods, or Online!

PURITY COFFEE// Ultra Healthy Organic Coffee

Purity Coffee the only coffee company in the world that is completely focused on maximizing health benefits
Before I say another word I have to admit... I love coffee. I'll take it hot, iced, nitro brewed, a splash of coconut milk, a sprinkle of stevia or even plain black if I have to. It's my favorite drink next to water and I'm always on the hunt for the best new brew. There's a lot of conflicting and confusing info out there about the health benefits of coffee but I found a brand that has broken it all down to the best beans, roasting times and brewing method to maximize this miracle elixir.

The idea for Purity Coffee started with Andrew Salisbury, after his wife Amber began to experience debilitating fatigue. She lived an active, healthy lifestyle and suddenly struggled to perform her daily routine. Amber would often be asleep by 8 p.m. and wake up feeling exhausted. Medical tests revealed nothing and left her and her Doctors without a diagnosis. Andrew and Amber did everything a healthy person did: exercising, eating healthy and organic, getting regular sleep and drinking plenty of water. Nothing seemed to help Amber with the exception of Coffee. She drank 1 to 2 cups in the morning and up to 6 cups throughout day. Andrew became concerned that her coffee intake might be harming her more than helping. So they set out to uncover the real facts about coffee and luckily they found what I wanted to hear.

While older studies have led to confusing headlines and advice about coffee consumption, more recent studies have proven that not only is coffee not unhealthy, its been shown to actively improve health. Over 19,000 studies have been done to measure coffee’s health benefits and their results have overwhelmingly pointed to coffee’s healing properties. Coffee has been shown to decrease risk of diabetes, heart disease, liver disease, Alzheimer’s, and multiple cancers. Research has shown that 3-5 cups of high quality coffee per day has an astonishing array of health benefits.

After two years of research and testing, Purity Coffee launched in Spring 2017. They started with conscious sourcing, a commitment to environmental sustainability, responsibility to the communities where the coffee is grown, and careful attention to the coffee growing process itself. Purity only sources organic, specialty grade beans and tests all green coffee for mold, pesticides, and Ochratoxin A- which can cause kidney damage. Most coffee brands eliminate toxins and mold on coffee by roasting them away but Purity know's that toxins don’t just disappear, they merely change their form. There are also cancer-causing compounds called Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (or PAHs) that develop as a result of smoking or over-roasting coffee beans. Purity uses a unique roasting method that retains the most (and WAY more)antioxidants in coffee bean while completely avoiding PAH development and reducing the amount of Acrylamide- which occurs as result of under-roasting.

I prefer whole bean and grind my coffee right before I make it- this also maximizes the antioxidants in your cup!
The final key to the healthiest coffee is the way it's stored, packaged and delivered.  Coffee can often sit in a lonely warehouse or even supermarket shelves for months, losing its health-benefit potency and becoming more likely to cause digestive discomfort. Purity Coffee has a serious commitment to freshness. They only store their green beans for 15 months, roast beans as they are ordered and ship them to you within 48 hours of roasting, in bags flushed with nitrogen.

Purity Coffee’s founders are passionate about sharing healthy, pure coffee, with as many people as they can. They offer a subscription service so you'll always have the freshest beans and a $1.00 sample bag if you'd like to try it before you buy it! This coffee tastes amazing, there's no burnt or bitter taste at all,  I loved its light coco notes and smooth finish.

PELA CASE // 100% Compostable Phone Cases

Pela Case is the world's first %100 compostable phone case, made with Flaxstic
Jeremy Lang and Matt Bertulli are the founders of PelaCase, the worlds very first 100% compostable phone case. Jeremy had always been a curious person, as a child he most enjoyed taking things apart to see how they worked. He also dearly loved being on the water. After he graduated from University of Saskatchewan, Jeremy went on to work as a Professional Agrologist and Environmental Consultant in Canada.  Jeremy was enjoying the beaches of Hawaii with his family, when his son dug up some random pieces of plastic along the shore. It was in that exact moment he wondered about the real impact plastics were having on our planet. He imagined clear blue oceans free of plastic the way nature intended. The idea for PelaCase was born. He later founded Open Mind Developments, a creator of sustainable plastic alternatives. His co-founder Matt, loved to bike outdoors and was also CEO and Co-Founder of an eCommerce agency managing a portfolio of over 80 online stores for some of Canada's largest retailers. Together their mission was to make sustainable, eco-friendly products- starting with a product that you use every single day.

The founders of Pela Case, Jeremy Lang and Matt Bertulli
This sustainable, eco-friendly phone case is entirely made in Canada! The Pela Case is made with Flaxstic- a flexible, speckled material made of compostable bioplastic elastomer and flax straw. It's is free of phthalates, BPA, cadmium and lead and is verified to meet child safety standards in America, Canada, Europe, Australia and New Zealand. The production of Flaxstic has a lower carbon footprint and lower greenhouse gas emission than traditional plastic manufacturing. When the time comes, instead of tossing your case in the trash- your Pela Case can be left to biodegrade in at a local composting facility or at home in your own composting area. They also offer the Pela-Cycle program. Simply send back your old Pela Case and they'll recycle it to make another generation of Pela products. As a Thank You from them, you'll receive a 20% off your next purchase.

Pela Case believes small choices add up to make a big difference, even ones as small as your phone case.
The Pela Case comes in so many amazing colors, is super slim and fits like a glove. It has a smooth yet lightly-textured finish caused by the flax shive. Not only does this make it less slippery and easier to grip but it also provides strength and natural shock absorption if (when) dropped. The tiny flax pieces make each case as unique as a snowflake- no two cases are exactly alike, ever. How special!? Pela is also a proud member of 1% for the Planet, and donate a percentage of sales to non-profit environmental organizations. Their main focus is clean water and clean ocean initiatives but they hope to help other environmental causes that help protect the natural playgrounds they love so much.

In the end, the founders of Pela know they're only human like everyone else and they're trying their best to preserve this planet for their children and beyond. They don't claim to be perfect in their efforts but they are always pushing themselves to believe in better, to be better and to do better every single day.

VEGALASH // All Natural, Cruelty Free Lash Serum MADE IN L.A.

Vegalash is a cruelty free & vegan lash serum brand, based in in Los Angeles
I'm not sure where you live in the world, but in L.A. "falsies" also known as fake eyelashes have become totally normal and countless women of all ages and occupations have worked them into their daily make up routines or forked over some cash for lash extensions. If I'm being honest I hate both of these methods on my face. I had lash extensions once, they were uncomfortable, expensive and I was internally losing my sh*t  during the whole application-praying my eyes wouldn't get glued shut, infected from the tools or I'd somehow go blind from formaldehyde, "why did I sign that waiver?!" The glue-on lashes were less scary but still super annoying to apply and always looked and felt fake to me. I was back to the basics with my curler and mascara when I stumbled upon a miracle lash product people were losing THIER sh*t over- in a GOOD way.

Vegalash is safe and effective! It has no hormones, is gluten-free and won't discolor your eyelids or eyes.

Vegalash is a tiny team of people in Los Angeles who felt the same way about the lash industry as I did. They simply wanted to help those battling hair loss- from lashes, brows and even the scalp find a better solution to these issues in a better and natural way. Using science and nature, Vegalash has created a natural, vegan, volumizing serum thats helping women re-discover and celebrate their own beauty. They have by-passed big retailers by establishing a strong community of happy customers, so much so that they now offer a subscription service to keep them coming! This is to no surprise though, as their serums have outperformed their big-pharma counterparts in clinical trials, with just its' powerful natural ingredients.

Vegalash is firmly committed to a positive social impact too. They partner with suppliers and non-profit organizations that support inner beauty, inner strength and tenacity. Many of their active and key ingredients are produced by female-owned and operated businesses and co-ops. Their sister company Southern Botanica, produces the Marula Oil they use in their products. They provide Fair Trade jobs to over 5,000 women in northern Namibia every year. Together they hope to expand the number of job opportunities to 20,000 by 2020. They're also partnering to fund a tree planting program in northern Namibia that will help grow 30,000 mango trees over the course of ten years, in drought-stricken communities without access to fresh fruit.
The Lash Plan #4 from Vegalash includes a Volumizing Serum, Volumizing Mascara,
Multi-Tasking Primer and Gentle Oil Free Make Up Remover

TOP: Before, shorter, sparse lashes
BOTTOM: After, longer and stronger!
I used The Vegalash and VegaBrow Sets for a little over a month and have noticed a difference in both areas. I am happy with my natural lashes and the progress they've made. They're undoubtedly longer and stronger. I had full brows in the first place, but feel less inclined to pencil them in as often as I used to, just give them a little brush and I'm out the door! Vegalash helped me feel prettier in my natural state and I'm not sure you can put a price tag on something as beautiful as that.

Check out the trials they offer and read all the raving reviews at
